If you’re a pet owner, then you know that making travel plans includes deciding whether to take them with you or leave them in the care of a sitter or a care facility. Of course, you’d like to take your pet with you but, like many pet owners, you don’t know how to prepare for pet-friendly travel.

Here are tips on traveling with your pet.
1. Bring first aid kit for your pet
Bring a copy of their current medical records that may be needed during your travel. Check out the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS) for information on the nearest animal hospital. Bring gauze, bandages, and hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting if necessary.
2. Bring food and water
Expect delays during your travel. It could result in your pet waiting for a long time for food and water. Take along extra food and water for them.
3. Consider sedating your pet
The idea of sedating your frightened pet prior to transporting them may seem like a bit too much. But the extreme anxiety your pet might experience in an unfamiliar society, calming them with medication could save them from trauma.
